Karen McPhee is the founder and owner of Active Kids. After 30 years working in the financial services industry it was time for a change. I wanted to do something worthwhile and as childhood obesity is constantly in the news, I worried for the future generations and decided to try and make a difference. I am pleased to say that we have been very successful in this area due to our combination of a balanced diet and physical activity. |

Christine Glendinning joined Active Kids as a supervisor at the start in February 2004. She qualified as a Nursery Nurse in 1975 and at that time worked at Menston Nursery. She is primarily our cook but likes to spend time with the children too whenever she gets the opportunity!

Louise Newsome joined Active Kids in June 2008. Her own son was being cared for by us and as she did not have any childcare qualifications, she was initially employed to do some administration. However, once we saw how great she is with the children that soon changedo. After 2 years working as a nursery assistant, Louise gained her NVQ Level 3 in Childcare and now holds the position of Deputy Manager.

Kim Mooney joined us in October 2005 as a pre-school nursery assistant after a short time working for First Class Childcare. She has completed both her NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 in Childcare 3. Kim works in our baby room but has experience in all areas of the nursery.

Rosie Solomon joined Active Kids in September 2007. After a work placement with us earlier in the year Rosie decided she wanted to work for Active Kids and waited until a nursery nurse post became available. Rosie has completed the BTEC National Diploma in Early Years . Rosie works with our Pre School children.

Suzanne Appleton joined Active Kids in February 2010. She was originally working in the creche facilities at LA Fitness in Yeadon. She had already completed her NVQ Level 3 in childcare and is now the room leader in our Small Toddler area.

Carol Mitchell joined us in October 2006 and has passed her NVQ Level 3. She primarily works in the Big Toddler area with our 2 to 3 year olds. Carol has previously worked in the after school club in Ireland Wood Krayola Kids and also as a dinner lady at Adel St John the Baptist C of E Primary School. |

Courtney Moore is a nursery nurse who joined Active Kids in April 2008 after previously working in the crèche at LA Fitness in Yeadon. Courtney passed the BTEC National Diploma in Early Years in 2006 and has recently passed her NVQ1 in British Sign Language (BSL). She has also undertaken courses in Food Hygiene and First Aid for Children. Courtney works with our Pre-School children. |

Amy Yau is the newest member of our team and she joined us in April 2010. She is now the room leader in our Big Toddler area working with the 2 - 3 ear olds and has completed an Apprenticeship in Children's Care and attained NVQ Level 2 and 3. She has also undertaken Behaviour Management training and is currently learning sign language. |

Victoria Taylor joined us to provide support to the two deaf families we have with us. Victoria has achieved the NVQ Level 2 in British Sign Language and is teaching sign language to our staff and children too! |

Casie Portman joined us in February 2010 after we had taken over the creche facility at LA Fitness. Since that time she had completed her NVQ Level 3 and now works throughout the nursery with all the children depending on our requirements.

Gayle Coultas works with our small toddlers and joined us in April 2010. She is not qualified in childcare but has worked with children for a number of years, previously in the LA Fitness creche and Westfield Primary School.

Charlotte Gilmore also joined us from the LA Fitness creche in February 2010. She is now working towards her NVQ level 3 in childcare. She works throughout the nursery wherever she is needed.
