Since joining Active Kids in 2008 Louise has progressed to the role of Manager. This is mainly due to the energy and enthusiasm she spreads throughout the setting along with her excellent communication and organisational skills. She is qualified to NVQ L3 standard and has undertaken numerous other courses including Parents as partners, Peaediatric First Aid, Restorative Practice, Behaviour Management and Monitoring Children's Progress.
Victoria Robinson joined Active Kids in October 2016 having previously worked in childcare since 2005 with just a 4 year break after having her first two children. She has achieved BTEC National Diploma in Early Years and is primarily working with our 2-3 year olds.
Christine Glendinning has been a valued member of staff since the nursery opened in 2003. She is highly qualified in all areas of the nursery, including NNEB in Early Years, Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene. Although primarily she is the on site chef, she is also our Supervisor and uses her excellent communication skills to liaise with parents, children and staff. Over the years many parents have singled out Christine for her dedication, stating she gave them complete confidence in our nursery.
Charlotte Cottle joined Active Kids in March 2013 and has since gained her qualifications, NVQ 2 and 3 in Child Development and is now studying towards the Foundation Degree in Families and Children. Charlotte who has a bubbly personality, is our Room Leader for the under 2's and always provides high standards of care. She is totally devoted to the children and with excellent communication skills, is highly regarded by all the staff, parents and children at Active Kids.
Emily White is our latest recruit and is currently half way through her Apprenticeship working towards NVQ Level 3. She joined us in June 2017 and is currently working in all areas of nursery, gaining experience and getting to know the children and staff.
Kerri Sykes joined Active Kids in February 2016 having previously worked for Bright Skies in Rawdon and Bright Beginnings which is attached to Leeds University. She comes with a wealth of ideas, training and experience, which she puts to good use as our Big Toddler Room Leader. Kerri is currently working towards a Leading and Managing Qualification and starts a degree course on Early Childhood Studies in September 18.
Marie Carter joined Active Kids in September 2016 after spending the last 5 years working for Cliffe House Nursery at Trinity University. She has qualified to Level 3 standard and is primarily working with our 1-2 year olds but is currently on Maternity leave.
After 30 years in financial services Karen, redirected her motivation to try and help conquer childhood obesity. Through Active Kids she helps young children to develop within a healthy, safe and active environment. In order to facilitate this Karen has studied for Foundation Degree in Early Years along with many other training sessions including Peaediatric First Aid, NVQ Level 3 in Child Development, Behaviour Management, Outdoor Play, Movement Play, Creativity. Karen's caring and common sense approach is reflected in her team, who she continuously supports to help them be the best they can be.
Ellie McPhee joined Active Kids August 2016 and has now completed her NVQ L3 in Child Development, as well as targeted courses on Motivating Boys and Maths for Toddlers. She is her mothers daughter and is proving to be a real asset to the setting with her focused and common sense approach to her role.
Jayne Newhouse joined us in August 2016. She has previously worked at Seedlings nursery for 10 years but is now our Room Leader working with our Pre-School children. She has already qualified to Level 3 standard and also has a wealth of experience of working with children who have special educational needs.
Nicola Spenceley joined Active Kids in February 2016 having already qualified at Level 3 equivalent in Childcare, Learning and Development at Wilberforce College. She is currently in her final year of studying for a Foundation Degree at Trinity University in Child and Family Welfare but while in nursery, she is always attentive and communicative with the children, never missing an opportunity to teach them something.
