Funded Hours
Starting in September 2025 children from 9 months with working parents will be entitled to 15 hours of funded childcare per week.
As this is for 38 weeks per year, this equates to 570 hours per year or 1140 hours per year for 30 hours.
At Active Kids we are open for 51 weeks per year so are able to stretch the hours over the whole year giving you 11.18 or 22.35 funded hours per week.
Claiming the 15 hours of funded childcare for babies and children from 9 months to 3-4 year olds:
If you’re a couple you both need to be working and earn at least £10,158 (if over 21) a year, and less than £100,000
a year adjusted net income, which is your income after some tax reliefs and deductions.
You can get the 15 hours of funded childcare at the same time as claiming Tax-Free Childcare or Universal Credit
for childcare.
Check when it will start:
If you're eligible you’ll get 15 hours of funded childcare from the term after your child turns 9 months old. Term start dates are 1st January, 1st April and 1st September.
You’ll need to get a code for the funded hours to give to your childcare provider via the www.childcarechoices.gov.uk website.
Check what it will cover:
The funding does not include meals and snacks, nappies, sun cream or any extra activities the nursery arranges. Active Kids apply additional charges for Pre School only. These are currently £10 per day for food ie £7 for mornings which includes breakfast, snack and 2 course lunch. Afternoon food is £3 per day which covers 2 course
tea only.
In addition, we also charge £5 per day consumable charge which covers those things the funding doesn't cover such as Calpol, Sun Cream, Forrest School etc.
We also currently engage Robot Reg for Pre School children, on a weekly basis so children who are here on Thursday mornings contribute £14.25 per month for this.
These additional charges are voluntary but without these our service would mean some oppotunities for the children would be limited. As an alternative, parents are able to provide a packed lunch/tea and their own resources if they prefer.
